Prophetic Times To The End - Part Ten

The Vision of the Glory of God

Dan. 10:1 Again Daniel was telling us what year he wrote this prophecy. This was written in the Third year of reign of Cyrus king of Persia 536 B.C. Daniel says that a message was revealed to him and that the Persians called him by the name Belteshazzar; Daniel tells us that he knows that the message is true (factual, truth, word revealed by God) and revealed at a time of great conflict, (of warfare), Daniel understood the words God spoke and had an understanding of the vision.

Dan. 10:2 Daniel says, that, in those days because of the understanding of God’s word and going through the vision he had been mourning for his people and himself for three entire weeks.

Dan. 10:3 Daniel relates to us that he fasted during this entire three weeks, he says, I did not eat any tasty food, nor meat or wine entered his mouth. He did not use the ointment of custom at all, this was done out of respect for God the Father in praise and adoration.

Dan. 10:4 Daniel here is giving us a reference to the Jewish calendar. Daniel says on the 24th day of the first month, (Israel’s religious calendar began in Nisan, which was spring. The first three feasts took place in the first month of Nison. These were Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits. Nisan or Abib refers to March-April). Daniel explains that he was by the banks of the great river, the Tigris.

Dan. 10:5 Daniel lifted his eyes and looked, he saw that a certain man dressed in fine linen, (what Daniel saw was Jesus Christ before him, this is called a Theophanies, [ref. Gen. 12:7] these are pre-incarnate appearances of God the Son, either in angelic or human form, by manifested glory [ref. Ezk. 1], or in a manner as not described [ref. Gen. 17:1]). Daniel goes on to say, Jesus was girded at the waist by a belt of pure gold of Uphaz. This is His priestly attire. [ref. Rev. 1:13]

Dan. 10:6 Daniel explains further, that, his visitor’s body was like beryl. His face shown like lightening, His eyes were like flames of torches, His arms and feet gleamed like burnished bronze, and the sound of His words like the sound of a roaring. [ref. Rev. 1:15]
Daniel saw something of the glory of the heavens reflected in the one who visited him, angels, who dwell in the presence of God who is light, are themselves clothed with light. [ref. Rev. 1:14-16; 19:12] Beryl is a yellow serpentine color which surrounded the body of Daniels visitor.

Dan. 10:7 Daniel says, he alone saw the vision, while there were others with him at the time. Daniel says a great dread fell on them, when they saw the tremendous bright light coming upon them, they ran away with fear to hide themselves.

Dan. 10:8 Daniel tells us he was left alone and saw the great vision of God; Daniel tells us that great stress was left upon him from what was taking place. It drained all of his strength. Daniels natural olive complexion, he says, turned to a deadly pallor (very pale). He could not regain his strength even in his trying to do so.

Dan. 10:9 Daniel says he heard the sound of his visitor’s words; and immediately after hearing the words, Daniel fell in a deep sleep on his face, with his face to the ground he lay.

Dan. 10:10 Daniel is astonished, he says, a hand touched me, and he became trembling, trying to get to his hands and knees.
