Ezekiel Chapter 39 Vs. 10

 Prophecy against Gog

So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down [any] out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD. Eze. 39:10

shall take no... Throughout the remainder of the Tribulation period and into the beginning of the Millennium, as Israel will be burning those weapons, she will not need to cut down trees.

shall spoil those... This will be an amazing reversal of Gog’s fortunes. Israel will plunder those who plundered her and loot those who looted her.

This speaks of using these weapons for burning, in the place of wood from the forest, to heat the homes. Whatever of value they had, will go to Israel. They were the victors, even though they did not fight the war. God fought for them.

Throughout the remainder of the Tribulation period and into the beginning of the Millennium, as Israel will be burning those weapons, she will not need to cut down trees. This will be an amazing reversal of Gog’s fortunes. Israel will plunder those who plundered her and loot those who looted her.

Romans Chapter 11 Vs. 10

The Remnant of Israel

Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway. Rom 11:10

In the 23rd Psalm, we see the opposite of this table.

Psm. 23:5 “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”

David’s table was a blessing and theirs was a curse. They did not have their heart right with God.

1Tim. 6:17-19 “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;” “That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;” “Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.”

We see from these three Scriptures that to whom much is given, much is required. This does not mean just wealth of money, but has to do with knowledge of the Bible as well. To know God and His Word and then to sin is much worse than to sin in ignorance.

Because they refused to receive God’s truth (cf. Isa. 6:9-10; John 5:40) their backs will be bent under the weight of guilt and punishment forever.

Ezekiel Chapter 39 Vs. 9

 Prophecy against Gog

And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years: Eze. 39:9

they that dwell... After the one-day battle of Armageddon Israel will begin the work of burying the millions of men slain on the battlefield (Eze. 39:9-16). The prediction is that no wood will be needed from the forests to be used as fuel for seven years, because there will be enough material collected from the battlefield to provide fires that long (Eze. 39:9-10). In modern life most of those in the cities will no doubt burn the natural gas or use electricity, but there will still be many others depending on wood and other materials for warmth and cooking.

This scripture is speaking of the tremendous amounts of weapons that will be in the battle of Gog and Magog. They will be of no use, as how can humans fight God? The cleanup from such devastation would be a long, tremendous task.

The aftermath of the battle

Those who will come to plunder Israel (Eze. 38:12) will themselves be plundered. Israelites will use the fallen soldiers’ weapons for fuel… for seven years. Should the weapons of war — horses, swords, shields… bows… arrows… clubs… and spears (Eze. 38:4-5; 39:9) — be understood literally or do they refer figuratively to modern-day weaponry? The text itself can allow for both interpretations, but the normal meaning of the words would lead one to see Ezekiel referring to literal horses, etc. With the other worldwide catastrophes evident during the first three and one-half years of Daniel’s 70th Week (Mat. 24:6-8; Rev. 6:1-17), a reversion to more primitive methods of warfare might become possible.

Romans Chapter 11 Vs. 9

The Remnant of Israel

And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: Rom 11:9

Let their table... The 13th Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in Romans (Rom. 11:9-10; Psm. 69:22-23). Next, Rom. 15:3. Their table (i.e., providential blessings) become a snare, a trap, a stumbling block, and a means of punishment.

A person’s “table” was thought to be a place of safety, but the table of the ungodly is a trap. Many people trust in the very things that damn them.

The second quotation (in Rom. 11:9-10) is of Psm. 69:22-23, which predicts that the very things which should have been the source of nourishment and blessing to Israel (table means their blessings from the hand of God, which should have led them to Christ; cf. Gal. 3:24) became the occasion for their rejection of God (a snare and a trap, a stumbling block; cf. Rom. 9:32-33) and God’s judgment (retribution) on them.

Ezekiel Chapter 39 Vs. 8

 Prophecy against Gog

Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this [is] the day whereof I have spoken. Eze. 39:8

is the day... The day should be taken literally instead of being counted as a period (a number of days), for in Zec. 14:7 it is definitely stated as "one day," meaning the battle of Armageddon will last only that long.

I have spoken... This time will come, because God has spoken this.

Through all this God will teach Israel that He is holy and is not to be profaned by their sins (cf. Eze. 36:22). Also the nations will see that He is the Holy One in Israel.

Romans Chapter 11 Vs. 8

The Remnant of Israel

(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. Rom 11:8

God hath given... The 12th Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in Romans (Rom. 11:8; Isa. 29:10). Next, Rom. 11:9. The very Word of God that should have awakened them has blinded them. God is not to blame, Israel is (see, Rom. 9:12-18).

Mat. 13:14-15 “And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:” “For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”

These Scriptures leave no doubt that God first must call us and the Holy Spirit has to reveal to us the meaning, or we too, would be blinded. It is God that opens our ears of understanding to His Word. He is our source; we must depend on Him. The beginning of wisdom is to fear God. This fear is to reverence Him or to hold Him in awe. Unless God reveals Himself to us, we do not truly know Him. He loves everyone and wants us all to love Him, but if we choose not to follow Him, He will stop up our ears and eyes and we will not be able to understand.

He does not want us to come to Him with our mind, He wants our heart.

Eze. 12:2 “Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they [are] a rebellious house.”

Mark 4:11-12 “And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all [these] things are done in parables:” “That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and [their] sins should be forgiven them.” This is because of their evil heart that Jesus does not reveal Himself to them.

The first line of this scripture was quoted (from Isa. 29:10), and the last lines are from (Deut. 29:4).

What it means to be hardened is seen from Paul’s explanatory and supporting quotations. The first is taken from both Deut. 29:3-4 and Isa. 29:10, and indicates that hardening involves spiritual drowsiness (stupor is the rendering of katanyxeōs, “a numbness resulting from a sting”), blindness, and deafness (cf. Isa. 6:9-10).

Ezekiel Chapter 39 Vs. 7

 Prophecy against Gog

So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not [let them] pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I [am] the LORD, the Holy One in Israel. Eze. 39:7

will I make... Three Results of Armageddon:

I will make My holy name known in the midst of my people Israel

I will not permit them to pollute My holy name anymore

The heathen will know that I am the Holy One in Israel

I will not... Terrible calamities return people to God. Perhaps, that is why they happen. God's name is to be honored in the entire world. The name that God is called by, tells us of the character of God. Sometimes, He is called Truth, because that is what He is. Sometimes, He is called Abba, an endearing name for the Father. His name sometimes shows His eternity, such as Alpha and Omega the Beginning and the End. He, alone, is God Almighty and so all the world will know.

We read that the name of Jesus brings worship. Philippians 2:10-11: "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;" "And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

I am the... Through all this God will teach Israel that He is holy and is not to be profaned by their sins (cf. Eze. 36:22). Also the nations will see that He is the Holy One in Israel.
