Romans Chapter 1 Vs. 22

God's Wrath on Unrighteousness

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Rom 1:22

When the true Source of wisdom is rejected (cf. Psm. 111:10), people’s claim to be wise is an idle boast. Progressively they became fools (emōranthēsan, lit., “became stupid”), a reality demonstrated by the worship as gods of idols in the forms of people and animals (cf. Rom. 1:25). The ultimate irony in humanity’s refusal to glorify the true God is the insanity or stupidity of idolatry described in Isa. 44:9-20. Man’s refusal to acknowledge and glorify God leads to a downward path: first, worthless thinking; next, moral insensitivity; and then, religious stupidity (seen in idol-worship).

Daniel Chapter 4 Vs. 22

Daniel Interprets the Second Dream

It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth. Dan. 4:22

It is thou,... This part of the dream will be pleasing to Nebuchadnezzar. He knows that the message is true. He has conquered, and become great in the known world. He was thought of as one of the most powerful kings who had reigned to that time.

My Sheep Hear My Voice- Rev. 22:15

My Sheep Hear My Voice- Rev. 22:15

Before Jesus was crucified He told the disciples to watch and pray, something so simple, but they let their physical bodies take over and they fell back asleep. In these last hours of time you need to hear His voice. When He tells you something, it is very important, but most ignore my voice or just discuss it and go on with what they were doing. You will see many things start to happen shortly and if you do not hear and obey His voice,... it will mean death for some of you....Jesus has only your best interest in mind. Christ knows you heart, and if you are truly His you will hear His voice. He awakes many of you at 3am on the dot, but most will roll over and go back to sleep. There are a few who will get up and pray. Your day is filled with so many things and Jesus is the last thing many of you give your time to. But Christ needs to talk to you,... to fellowship with you and only when you are still and quite (3am) can you hear Him,... the rest of your day is so busy you do not have time for Him,... but you need to make time, for time is short and the Lord has instructions for you.

Revelation 22

For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Rev. 22:15

For without are... Dogs. False prophets and homosexuals are called dogs in Scripture (Deut. 23:18; Isa. 56:10-11; Phlp. 3:2; Rev. 22:15). Considered despicable creatures in New Testament times. The term when applied to people referred to anyone of low moral character. Unfaithful leaders (Isa. 56:10), and homosexual prostitutes (Deut. 23:18), are among those who received such a designation.

Sorcerers. Greek: pharmakeusin, persons who by use of drugs, enchanted potions, charms, and enchantments seek to produce supernatural effects in the lives of others. Only here; Rev. 22:15. Are those who practice occult or witchcraft. Is the root of the English word pharmacy which often accompanies those practices (see Rev. 9:21).

Whoremongers. Greek: pornois, fornicators part of five classes not to Inherit God’s Kingdom. Are those who practice all kinds of sexual immorality.

Murderers. Greek: phoneus. Translated only as "murderer" (Rev. 21:8; 22:15; Mat. 22:7; Acts 3:14; 7:52; 28:4; 1Pet. 4:15). Means pre-meditated murder. This has nothing to do with accidental killing or killing in war. They are included in the list given (in Rev. 21:8).

Idolaters. Those who practice idolatry and abominable immoral acts in worship of idols. Are just those who put anything ahead of God which includes mammon (money), or the love of everything which takes one's attention off serving God. Someone once said: Show me someone's calendar and checkbook and I'll tell you where their heart lies. Think about that. Idolaters are also those who worship false gods or worship the true God in an unacceptable matter.

Liars. Whosoever loveth and maketh. Everyone sometimes during their life has lied as It's human nature. Some tell little white lies, even some Christians. But all lies are acts of deceiving and can be very harmful to others. Simply withholding some of the truth when asked a question is in itself lying.

Consider carefully how you answer and instead of a white lie or withholding a part of the truth, find another way. I would rather be told the truth no manner how bad it is rather than find later I had been deceived. Those who "loveth and maketh a lie" has to do with hurting someone else. Any time we hurt someone else, it is sin.

Rev. 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

It is not all who have ever committed any of these sins listed above that will be excluded from heaven. But it is those who love and habitually practice these sins and stubbornly cling to them and refuse Christ's invitation to salvation who will be the ones cast into the lake of fire.

By contrast, judgment is pronounced on those who are unsaved (dogs refers to people; cf. Phlp. 3:2): those who practice magic arts (cf. Rev. 9:21; 18:23; 21:8), the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. As in the similar description of the unsaved in Rev. 21:8, 21:27, the wicked works which characterize the unsaved are described. Though some saints have been guilty of these same practices, they have been washed in the blood of the Lamb and are acceptable to God. But those who refuse to come to the Lord receive the just reward for their sins. Though the world is excessively wicked, God will bring every sin into judgment. And the time for Christ’s return may be drawing near, when this will be effected.

Romans Chapter 1 Vs. 21

God's Wrath on Unrighteousness

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Rom 1:21

knew... Greek: ginosko, to know by experience (John 1:48; 1Jn. 5:20; Eph. 5:5).

glorified him not... They made God a mystery and gave the people images of all kinds (Rom. 1:23).

imaginations... Greek: dialogismos, reasoning's. Substituted foolish concepts of God, and fooled themselves.

For perverting God’s glory

This reason for God’s condemnation of the pagan world builds on the preceding one just as that one built on the first. The relationship is seen in the use of the same Greek connective (dioti) at the beginning of Rom. 1:19 and Rom. 1:21, in the latter translated for. People’s suppression of the truth is seen in their rejecting the clear evidence of God as the sovereign Creator and their perversion of that knowledge into idolatry.

The clause although they knew God refers to an original experiential knowledge of God such as Adam and Eve had both before and after the fall. How long this knowledge of God continued before it was perverted is not stated, but God was known by people. This fact makes human actions all the more reprehensible. One would suppose that to know God would be to honor Him, but these people neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him. They turned from the very purpose for which God made them: to glorify Him for His Person and thank Him for His works. With such willful rebellion against God it is little wonder that their thinking became futile (emataiōthēsan, lit., “became worthless, purposeless”; cf. Eph. 4:17) and their foolish (asynetos, “morally senseless”; cf. Rom. 1:31) hearts were darkened (cf. Eph. 4:18). When truth is rejected, in time the ability to recognize and to receive truth is impaired (cf. John 3:19-20). “Knew God”: Man is conscious of God’s existence, power and divine nature through general revelation. (Verses 19-20)

They glorified him not”: Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and Scripture constantly demands it. To glorify Him is to honor Him, to acknowledge His attributes, and to praise Him for His perfections. It is to recognize His glory and extol Him for it. Failing to give Him glory is man’s greatest affront to his Creator.

Neither was thankful”: They refused to acknowledge that every good thing they enjoyed came from God.

Vain in their imaginations”: meaning futile in their thoughts. Man’s search for meaning and purpose will produce only vain, meaningless conclusions.

Heart was darkened”: When man rejects the truth, the darkness of spiritual falsehood replaces it.

Daniel Chapter 4 Vs. 21

Daniel Interprets the Second Dream

Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation: Dan. 4:21

Daniel repeated the description of the greatness of the tree (Dan. 4:20-21) and then explained that the tree represented Nebuchadnezzar (Dan. 4:22). Daniel tactfully gave the good news first! Like the tree, Nebuchadnezzar had become great and strong, and his kingdom had been expanded and consolidated under his rule. His kingdom had become greater than any kingdom up to that time.

Revelation 22

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Rev. 22:14

The 14th New Testament prophecy in Revelation (Rev. 22:14-15, unfulfilled). Next, Rev. 22:18. Only people who obey God and keep His commandments are promised eternal life, not those who profess and do not obey (John 6:27).

New Testament Commands

Blessed are they... There are 1,050 commands in the New Testament for Christians to obey. Due to repetitions we can classify them under about 800 headings. Eight "Thou Shalt Not’s":

1. Thou shalt not tempt the Lord (Mat. 4:7; Luke 4:12).

2. Thou shalt not kill (Mat. 5:21; 19:18; Mar. 10:19; Luke 18:20; Rom. 13:9).

3. Thou shalt not commit adultery (Mat. 5:27-28; 19:18; Luke 18:20; Rom. 13:9).

4. Thou shalt not pray to be seen by people (Mat. 6:5).

5. Thou shalt not steal (Mat. 19:18; Mar. 10:19; Luke 18:20; Rom. 13:9).

6. Thou shalt not bear false witness (Mat. 19:18; Mar. 10:19; Luke 18:20; Rom. 13:9).

7. Thou shalt not covet (Rom. 13:9).

8. Thou shalt not muzzle the ox treading corn (1Cor. 9:9; 1Tim. 5:18).

Two ways not to walk:

1. As Sinners (Eph. 4:17)

2. As fools (Eph. 5:15)

Seven things to walk in:

1. The Spirit (Gal. 5:16)

2. Love (Eph. 5:2)

3. The light (Eph. 5:8-9; 1Jn. 1:7)

4. Watchfulness (Eph. 6:18)

5. Christ (Col. 2:6-7; 2Cor. 5:17)

6. Wisdom (Col. 4:5)

7. Honesty (1Th. 4:12)

that do his... (see Rev. 1:3). This symbolizes those who have been forgiven of their sins, who have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb of God (Heb. 9:14; 1 Peter 1:18-19; see Rev. 7:14).

These closing verses of the Bible make it perfectly clear that salvation is a matter of the will, whosoever wishes may come. This clearly implies that whosoever wills “not” to come is lost. This teaching abounds throughout the Scriptures. In contrast to those who reject Christ, we encounter the state of the blessed described here (in verse 14). Those who have washed their robes in the righteousness of Christ have a right to the Tree of Life and thus are entitled to live forever.

He describes their state as "blessed," meaning "happy". Every individual wants happiness. The way to eternal happiness is to receive Christ as Lord and Savior, which entitles you to entrance into the Holy City, access to the Tree of Life, and the marvelous blessings of a loving God. If there is any question in your mind as to whether or not you have received the living Christ, I urge you, on the basis of His challenge, to change your will and receive Him as your Lord and Savior today.

They that do his commandments are believers;

John 14:15: “If ye love me, keep my commandments”. (See Rev. 12:17; 14:12; Matt. 7:13- 21; 1 John 3:6-10).

have right to... The tree of life indicates immortality and divine blessing (Rev. 2:7; 22:2). To be able to enter in through the gates into the city is to have heavenly citizenship in the eternal dwelling place of God and redeemed mankind.

All unbelievers are without (outside), the city, i.e. in the lake of fire (see Rev. 21:8), for a list of the type of sins that exclude people from heaven that was given to John. Also (read Rev. 21:27).

James 1:22 " But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

You see, we are to be about the Father's business. If we truly are sold out to God and have made Jesus the Lord of our lives, the desire of our hearts will be to do His Commandments. The Jews were the natural branches of the tree. We Christians (when we are born again), are grafted into the Tree of Life, who is Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Coming Blessing And Judgment (Rev. 22:14-15)

The last of the seven beatitudes of Revelation is bestowed on the saints, those who wash their robes. They have access to the New Jerusalem and its tree of life (cf. Rev. 22:19). The other six beatitudes are in Rev. 1:3; 14:13; 16:15; 19:9; 20:6; 22:7. In the manuscripts followed by the KJV, the expression “those who wash their robes” is translated “that do His commandments.” In both cases the words accurately describe the righteous.
