God's Sovereign Choice
And
as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed,
we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha. Rom 9:29
Except the Lord... The 6th Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in Romans (Rom. 9:29; Isa. 1:9). Next, Rom. 9:33.
of Sabaoth had... Hosts. Here; Jas. 5:4. see, 1Sam. 1:3. Is an Old Testament title for God is translated “Lord of hosts” and refers to His all-encompassing sovereignty.
been as Sodoma... Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 19:1-38).
us a seed... This scripture is telling us that a seed or a remnant of Israel will survive God’s wrath, solely because of His mercy.
These 2 evil cities were destroyed by fire and brimstone. We know that God will not always look the other way. Sin of the same nature as that of Sodom and Gomorrah is rampant in the U.S. today. The day of reckoning is coming. America better stop homosexuality, lesbianism, drugs, and all the other related sins of our nation or the wrath of God will fall on the U.S.
Even today the same principle is true. Jews who become members of the church, the body of Christ, are what Paul later called “a remnant chosen by grace” (Rom. 11:5), which included himself (Rom. 11:1). Even so a remnant will come out Israel in the time of Daniel's 70th week.
