Daniel Chapter 12 Vs. 13

 The Time of the End

Daniel 12:13 "But go thou thy way till the end [be]: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days."

But go thou... But he will be resurrected (you will rise at the end of the days), and he will receive his allotted inheritance in the Millennium. Because of Daniel’s faith in God he led a life of faithful service for Him, and for that faith and that obedience he will receive a glorious reward. All who like Daniel trust the Lord will share in the blessings of His millennial kingdom.

for thou shalt... Soon Daniel’s own career would involve death and he shall rest. Daniel would not live to see the fulfillment of his own prophecies, but is here promised that he would be resurrected to receive his reward (thou shall stand in thy lot). All who trust in Daniel’s God will likewise be blessed.

stand in thy... This assures Daniel a part in these things after his resurrection. It teaches saints shall judge the world and rule forever under the Messiah (Dan. 2:44-45; 7:13-14, 7:18, 7:27; Luke 22:30; 1Co. 6:2-4; 2Ti. 2:12; Rev. 2:27; 5:10; 12:5; 20:4-6; 22:4-5).

Luke 21:36 "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."

Daniel did not live to see many of his prophecies fulfilled. He, the angel said, would rest, that is, in death (cf. Dan. 12:2).

Every individual person, who ever lived, stands before Jesus to be judged. Those who did not receive Jesus as their Savior will be judged guilty, and sent to everlasting torment.

Those who are Christians will be judged to receive their rewards. They all receive everlasting life, but some receive a reward for their work on earth.

Salvation is a free gift. It does not need to be earned. Rewards are extras.

Romans Chapter 9 Vs. 31

Israel's Unbelief

But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Rom 9:31

We see in all of this that the Jews rejected Jesus as their Messiah. Faith is what pleases God. By faith the elders received a good report. Abraham’s faith was counted unto him as righteousness.

The latter pursued (“kept on pursuing”) a Law of righteousness, but has not attained it. “A Law of righteousness” refers to the Mosaic Law (cf. Rom. 7:7, 7:12, 7:14). To seek to attain righteousness by observing the Law requires that it be kept perfectly (cf. Jas. 2:10).

Daniel Chapter 12 Vs. 12

 The Time of the End

Daniel 12:12 "Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days."

Blessed is he... Blessing is pronounced on one who waits for and lives to see the end of the 1,335 days. This is an additional 45 days beyond the 1,290 days (Dan. 12:11). Forty-five days after the end of the Tribulation Israel’s long-awaited blessings will be realized. This may mark the blessing of the Millennium; or it may be when Christ, who will have appeared in the heavens (Mat. 24:30) 45 days earlier, will actually descend to the earth, His feet touching down on the Mount of Olives (cf. Act. 1:11). For believers Christ’s coming is a blessing and a glorious hope.

The Christians are the blessed.

This is in the kingdom (2:35, 45; 7:13-14, and 27) that gives blessedness after the subjugation to Gentile empires in chapters 2, 7 and 8.

Forty five more days, even beyond the 1290 days, allows for transition between Israel’s time of being shattered (v.7) and God’s setting up of His kingdom. (7:13-14, and 27)

Rom. 5:9 "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."

We are not saved from tribulation, we are saved from wrath.

Romans Chapter 9 Vs. 30

Israel's Unbelief

What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. Rom 9:30

What shall we... Question 61. Next, Rom. 9:32. What shall we finally conclude from all these prophecies? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained it; but Israel which followed after the law of righteousness has not attained it (Rom. 9:30-31).

Paul concludes the lesson on God’s divine choice by reminding his readers that although God chooses some to receive His mercy, those who receive His judgment do so not because of something God has done to them, but because of their own unwillingness to believe the gospel. Sinners are condemned for their personal sins, the supreme one being rejection of God and Christ.

Mat. 21:42 “Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?”

Mat. 21:44 “And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.”

God’s sovereign choice applied

Israel’s Stumbling

Once again Paul asked his familiar rhetorical question, What then shall we say? (cf. Rom. 4:1; 6:1; 8:31; 9:14) preparatory to his summation of this situation. His identification of the Gentiles (lit., “the nations”) as the ones who have obtained… a righteousness that is by (ek, “out from”) faith is interesting. As Paul stated later, the church included Jewish as well as Gentile believers (Rom. 11:1-5), but by the time of Paul’s third missionary journey the increasing rejection of the gospel by the Jews and the predominance of Gentiles in the church led the apostle to speak of “the Gentiles” as antithetical to Israel. The latter pursued (“kept on pursuing”) a Law of righteousness, but has not attained it. “A Law of righteousness” refers to the Mosaic Law (cf. Rom. 7:7, 7:12, 7:14).

Daniel Chapter 12 Vs. 11

 The Time of the End

Daniel 12:11 "And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days."

And from the... The angel said that 1,290 days will be measured off from the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished by the antichrist (cf. Dan. 9:27, “he will put an end to sacrifice”).

and the abomination... And the abomination that causes desolation is set up (cf. Dan. 9:27, “one who causes desolation will place abominations on a wing of the temple”).

there shall be... The last half of the 70th “seven” of years is “a time, times, and half a time” (Dan. 7:25; Rev. 12:14), which is three and one-half years. It is also designated as 42 months (Rev. 11:2) or 1,260 days (Rev. 11:3).

This reference is to the end of daily temple sacrifice, previously allowed under a covenant which the Antichrist formed with Israel, which he later causes to cease in the middle of the final 7 years. Then, favorable relations give way to persecution.

Even his abomination that desecrates the temple (as in 9:27; Matt. 24:1; Mark 13:14; and 2 Thess. 2:3-4) is accomplished with persecution.

The angel said that 1,290 days will be measured off from the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished (cf. Dan. 9:27, “he will put an end to sacrifice”) and the abomination that causes desolation is set up (cf. Dan. 9:27, “one who causes desolation will place abominations on a wing of the temple”). The last half of the 70th “seven” of years is “a time, times, and half a time” (Dan. 7:25; Rev. 12:14), which is three and one-half years. It is also designated as 42 months (Rev. 11:2) or 1,260 days (Rev. 11:3). How then can the variance of 30 days (1,290 compared with 1,260) be explained? Some suggest that the 30 days will extend beyond the end of the Tribulation, allowing for the judgment of Israel and the judgment of the nations. Another possibility is that the 1,290 days will begin 30 days before the middle of the 70th “seven” of years when the world ruler will set up “the abomination that causes desolation” (Mat. 24:15). The 1,290 days could begin with an announcement (about the abomination) made 30 days before the abomination is introduced. This abomination, as stated earlier, will be an image of himself (Rev. 13:14-15) and will be the symbol of this religious system.

Romans Chapter 9 Vs. 29

God's Sovereign Choice

And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha. Rom 9:29

Except the Lord... The 6th Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in Romans (Rom. 9:29; Isa. 1:9). Next, Rom. 9:33.

of Sabaoth had... Hosts. Here; Jas. 5:4. see, 1Sam. 1:3. Is an Old Testament title for God is translated “Lord of hosts” and refers to His all-encompassing sovereignty.

been as Sodoma... Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 19:1-38).

us a seed... This scripture is telling us that a seed or a remnant of Israel will survive God’s wrath, solely because of His mercy.

These 2 evil cities were destroyed by fire and brimstone. We know that God will not always look the other way. Sin of the same nature as that of Sodom and Gomorrah is rampant in the U.S. today. The day of reckoning is coming. America better stop homosexuality, lesbianism, drugs, and all the other related sins of our nation or the wrath of God will fall on the U.S.

Even today the same principle is true. Jews who become members of the church, the body of Christ, are what Paul later called “a remnant chosen by grace” (Rom. 11:5), which included himself (Rom. 11:1). Even so a remnant will come out Israel in the time of Daniel's 70th week.

Daniel Chapter 12 Vs. 10

 The Time of the End

Daniel 12:10 "Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand."

In that period of time many Jews will turn to the Savior (cf. Dan. 12:3), and as a result (will be spiritually purified… spotless and refined. But the wicked will continue in their ways, following and worshiping the Antichrist, the world ruler. What God revealed to Daniel will continue to be obscure to them (cf. 1Co. 2:14), but the wise (i.e., the righteous; cf. “wise” and “righteousness” in Dan. 12:3) will understand.

Salvation will come to many Jews during the Great Tribulation, see Zech. 13:8-9).

"And it shall come to pass, [that] in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off [and] die; but the third shall be left therein." "And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, it [is] my people: and they shall say, The LORD [is] my God."

The truly saved develop in godliness through trials. The unsaved pursue false values.

True wisdom comes from God. Only those who belong to God will understand. The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ purifies the Christian. We are made white, because we have been washed in His blood.

Revelation 7:14 "And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, these are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."

We must realize that the Tribulation Christians will be tried.

The wicked are living for this life, and the pleasures they can get now. They are not looking to eternity.

1Cor. 2:14), but the wise (i.e., the righteous; cf. “wise” and “righteousness” in Dan. 12:3) will understand.
