Ezekiel Chapter 41 Vs. 5

 The Inner Temple

After he measured the wall of the house, six cubits; and the breadth of every side chamber, four cubits, round about the house on every side. Eze 41:5

house, six cubits... This would be 10 feet 6 inches.

chamber, four cubits... This would be 7 feet.

round about the... The rooms round about the temple on the outside walls were 3 stories high and numbered 30 in each row (Eze. 41:5-6). These were perhaps planned for use as storehouses for the tithes and offerings, for furniture, and whatever would be used in the eternal sacrifices. They were connected to walls other than the walls of the temple itself, but were considered part of the temple. The openings of the rooms faced the temple walls and the space between them and the walls was a passage or corridor around the temple on the two sides and the west end. There was a winding stairway leading from the first to the second and third stories of the rooms.

The wall of the house was 10 feet 6 inches. The width of these side chambers were 7 feet. They were for the priests, who were serving in the temple. There appeared to be a 10 foot 6 inches wall, separating the most Holy Place, from the chambers for the priests.

Romans Chapter 14 Vs. 13

Do Not Cause Another to Stumble

Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. Rom 14:13

let us not... It does no good at all for us to try to judge(condemn) another, because we are not the Judge, Jesus is. We are told to judge not, lest ye be judged and, also, with whatever judgment we judge another we will be judged. We find a very good Scripture covering this in (Jas. 4:11).

Jas. 4:11 “Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of [his] brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.”

The Greek word translated “judge” is here translated “determine”. (In verses 3, 10 and 13a), the meaning is negative: to condemn. (In 13b), the meaning is positive: to determine or make a careful decision.

but judge this... The point of Paul’s play on words is that instead of passing judgment on their brothers, they should use their best judgment (careful decision) to help fellow believers. Anything a believer does, even though Scripture may permit it, that causes another to fall into sin by his going against his conscience, puts a stumbling block in his brother’s way.

Without Hindering

Paul’s warning against judging relates to Christians’ attitudes and actions toward the convictions of other believers (Rom. 14:1-12). The other side of the coin is evaluating the impact of one’s own convictions and actions on other Christians. In this section Paul warned against causing other Christians to stumble (hindering their spiritual growth) by asserting that one is free to live in accord with convictions not shared by other believers.

Paul’s opening sentence is both the final charge on the previous subject and the introduction to the new one: Therefore, let us stop passing judgment on (krinōmen, “condemning”) one another (pres. tense subjunctive, “no longer let us keep on judging or condemning one another”). Instead a Christian should judge himself and his actions so that he does not place a stumbling block (proskomma, lit., “something a person trips over”; cf. 1Cor. 8:9 and comments on Rom. 14:20-21) or obstacle (skandalon, lit., “trap, snare,” and hence “anything that leads another to sin”; cf. Rom. 16:17) in his brother’s way (lit., “to the brother”).

Ezekiel Chapter 41 Vs. 4

 The Inner Temple

So he measured the length thereof, twenty cubits; and the breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple: and he said unto me, This is the most holy place. Eze 41:4

the length thereof... This refers to the most holy place, corresponding with the holy of holies of the tabernacle of Moses and that of Solomon’s temple.

breadth, twenty cubits... This would be 35 feet.

The most Holy Place is a square 35 feet wide by 35 feet long.

most Holy Place... The Holy of Holies, which the High Priest entered annually on the Day of Atonement. These dimensions are identical to Solomon’s and twice those of the tabernacle in the wilderness.

Ezekiel entered the outer sanctuary but not the most holy place, the inner sanctuary. Instead the angel went into the inner sanctuary to measure it. As a priest (Eze. 1:3), Ezekiel was allowed into the outer sanctuary, but was barred from the most holy place (cf. Lev. 16:1-34; Heb. 9:6-7).

Romans Chapter 14 Vs. 12

Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Rom 14:12

every one of... Jesus will judge us one at a time. Whether your mother or dad was saved will not matter. You will stand or fall by the decision you made about what you would do about Jesus.

2Tim. 4:1 “I charge [thee] therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;”

give account of... All believers in Christ will stand before His Throne in heaven.

Rev. 7:9 “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;”

These in white robes are the Christians who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb.

At that event each believer will give an account (lit., “a word”) of himself to God. Since Paul was writing to the Christians in Rome (Rom. 1:7) and included himself with them in the first personal plural pronoun and verb (“we will all stand,” Rom. 14:10), “God’s judgment seat” is only for believers in the Lord. What is here called God’s judgment seat is the judgment seat of Christ in 2Cor. 5:10. Because God judges through His Son (John 5:22, 5:27), this judgment seat can be said to belong to both the Father and the Son. The issue of the believer’s eternal destiny will not be at stake; that was settled by his faith in Christ (cf. Rom. 8:1). Each believer’s life of service will be under review in which some loss will be experienced (cf. 1Cor. 3:12-15), but he will be rewarded for what endures (cf. 1Cor. 4:4-5). This judgment of believers climatically demonstrates God’s lordship.

Ezekiel Chapter 41 Vs. 3

 The Inner Temple

Then went he inward, and measured the post of the door, two cubits; and the door, six cubits; and the breadth of the door, seven cubits. Eze 41:3

door, two cubits... This would be 3 feet 6 inches.

door, six cubits... This would be 10 feet 6 inches.

door, seven cubits... This would be 12 feet 3 inches.

The post of the door was 3 feet 6 inches. The door is 10 feet 6 inches. The width of the door was 12 feet 3 inches.

Ezekiel climbed the stairs and entered through the vestibule into the outer sanctuary (Eze. 41:1). As one enters the building each gate or doorway is narrower than the one before it.

Romans Chapter 14 Vs. 11

Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Rom 14:11

As I live,... Quoted from Isa. 45:23 (cp. Phlp. 2:10).

every knee shall... Phlp. 2:10 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;”

and every tongue... Isa. 45:23 “I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.”

We can see again, in these three Scriptures above that, God never changes. He is the same in Isaiah that He is in Romans.

Rev. 1:7 “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

We must not wait to declare Him our Savior until we can see Him with our physical eyes. We must accept Him by faith, not fact, to be saved.

Paul affirmed the certainty of this event by quoting Isa. 49:18 and Isa. 45:23, pertaining to everyone standing before Christ and confessing Him as Lord (cf. Phlp. 2:10-11). At that event each believer will give an account (lit., “a word”) of himself to God.

Ezekiel Chapter 41 Vs. 2

 The Inner Temple

And the breadth of the door was ten cubits; and the sides of the door were five cubits on the one side, and five cubits on the other side: and he measured the length thereof, forty cubits: and the breadth, twenty cubits. Eze 41:2

was ten cubits... This would be 17 feet 6 inches.

were five cubits... This would be 8 feet 9 inches.

the length thereof... This refers to the holy place, corresponding with the holy place of the tabernacle of Moses and that of Solomon’s temple.

thereof, forty cubits... This would be 70 feet.

breadth, twenty cubits... This would be 35 feet.

The door was 17 feet 6 inches wide, and on either side of the door there was 8 feet 9 inches. This area is then 35 feet wide and 70 feet long. This area is speaking of the Holy Place.

He described the structure in great detail as he was led through it. Ezekiel went first to the portico or entrance to the temple (Eze. 40:48-49). This was the porch-like vestibule on the front of the temple. A flight of stairs led up to the portico and pillars were on each side of the jambs.
