Rules for Levitical Priests
But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord GOD: Eze 44:15
But the priests... There were some who had not committed spiritual adultery with these idols and false gods.
they shall come... They will now, take the offices of priest and High Priest. The fat and the blood were God’s alone.
to offer unto... They were burned for the sweet smelling savor.
Then Ezekiel discussed the duties of the priests… of Zadok. The line of Zadok was one branch of the priestly line, a limited group of Levites. Zadok was appointed chief priest during Solomon’s reign (and hence over the first temple) because he faithfully supported Solomon as king (cf. 1Kgs. 1:32-35; 2:26-27, 2:35). Though the people had sinned, the priests in Zadok’s line had remained faithful to God.
