Daniel's Vision of the Ram and the Goat



Daniel 8:4 "I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither [was there any] that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great."


westward, and northward,... The Medes and Persians conquered Lydia to the north, Babylon and other countries to the west, and Egypt to the south. Subduing all, they did according to their own will and became great.

The Medes and Persians conquered Babylon and other countries to the west, conquered Lydia to the north, and Egypt to the south.

that no beasts... Subduing all that might stand before him, none could be delivered out of his hand.

did according to... they did according to their own will and became great.

We do know from history, there was a great conquest of nations who surrounded them. They were so powerful they had conquered even the Babylonians.

The ram that had been standing by the canal began to charge toward the west… north and… south. His charge was irresistible; none could escape his onslaught. Doing as he wished, the ram dominated all the territory against which he moved and became great.
