Ezekiel Chapter 43 Vs. 9

The Glory of the Lord Fills the Temple

Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcases of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever. Eze 43:9

Now let them... We have seen over and over, the indication that God thought of Israel as His wife. When they worshipped false gods, or had idols, they committed spiritual adultery. They were unfaithful to God.

carcases of their... Kings, in the sense it is used in the verse above, is speaking of idols.

and I will... He wants them to be His wife, but He wants them to be faithful to Him. If they will be faithful to Him, He will dwell with them forever.

God said the new temple is to be the place of His throne… the place… where He will live among the Israelites forever (Eze. 43:7; cf. Eze. 43:9). The temple will serve as God’s earthly dwelling place among His people. God assured Ezekiel that this home would be permanent. Never again would Israel defile His holy name (cf. Eze. 20:39; 39:7) by worshiping lifeless idols, bringing destruction on the nation (Eze. 43:7-8).
