of the South and the North
Daniel 11:13 "For
the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude
greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years
with a great army and with much riches."
the king of the
north... Antiochus
III, called the Great, who ruled 223-187 B.C. Fourteen years after
his defeat at Raphia, he returned to fight the Egyptians with a
greater army than before and with many riches from his campaign in
restoring the eastern parts of his empire.
And with these
series of strikes against Egypt he brought Palestine (the Beautiful
Land) into his control as far South as Gaza.
