Daniel Interprets the Handwriting
And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will. Dan. 5:21
he was driven... This experience happened to him, to make him realize that it was not by his own might he had become so powerful. It is God who makes a man king. It is also, God who brings them down.
John 19:11 "Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power [at all] against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin."
they fed him... He was left to eat grass as an animal, until he recognized God. This suggests that men protected and cared for Nebuchadnezzar more or less during his insanity. Although he did live with the animals he had some human care until he became sane again.
