God's Righteousness Upheld

If our sins magnify the mercy and goodness of God, then the more wicked we are the more God can be glorified. If we thus glorify God, would He not be unjust in casting us off? It is only natural for me to reason this way for all my countrymen and I are involved.


The apostle then pursued his argument with additional questions. The first is, What shall we say to the idea that the Jews’ unrighteousness served to accentuate God’s righteousness? Could they conclude that God’s wrath on Jews is therefore unjust? Paul immediately interjected, I am using a human argument, and responded with the answer, Certainly not! (mē genoito, the same response as in Rom. 3:4; cf. Rom. 3:31).
