Daniel Chapter 12 Vs. 6

 The Time of the End

Daniel 12:6 "And [one] said to the man clothed in linen, which [was] upon the waters of the river, How long [shall it be to] the end of these wonders?"

man clothed in... No doubt the same divine person as described in Dan. 10:5-6. Linen speaks of righteousness. The man clothed in linen was of higher rank than the two. They were looking to Him for answers, as if He were the Lord. Notice, also, he was on the water, not in the water.

How long shall... Question 15. Next, Dan. 12:8.

said to the... Eight-fold Description of the Messiah

1. His clothing was fine linen (Dan. 10:5; 12:6-7; cp. Rev. 1:13; 19:8; Exo. 28:4-12).

2. His loins were girded with a golden girdle (Dan. 10:5; cp. Rev. 1:13).

3. His body was like a beryl (Dan. 10:6; cp. Rev. 4:3). The beryl is a gem of blue green or other color combinations.

4. His face was as the appearance of lightning (Dan. 10:6; cp. Rev. 1:16; 10:1).

5. His eyes were as lamps of fire (Dan. 10:6; cp. Rev. 1:15; 19:12).

6. His arms like polished brass (Dan. 10:6; cp. Rev. 1:15; 10:1).

7. His feet like polished brass (Dan. 10:6; cp. Rev. 1:15; 10:1).

8. His voice was like a multitude (Dan. 10:6; cp. Rev. 1:15; 8:5; 10:2-4; 11:15; 14:2; 16:17-18; 19:6; Psm. 29:1-11.

We see in the following Scripture that the disciples asked the Lord Jesus the same question. Matthew 24:3 "And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?"

We also saw someone similar to this in Chapter 10 verse 5.

When most people look at the Lord, they see the figure of a man. It could, also, be Michael representing the Lord Jesus.

Evidently two angels had attended the angelic messenger, who was probably Gabriel (cf. see Dan. 10:5). One of the angels across the river (the Tigris; cf. Dan. 10:4) called to an angel standing by Gabriel (the one clothed in linen; cf. Dan. 10:5) and asked, How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled? “These astonishing things” probably refer to the events recorded in Dan. 11:36-45, which pertain to Israel’s final occupation by the coming Gentile ruler.
