Daniel Chapter 9 Vs. 13

Daniel's Prayer for His People

Daniel 9:13 "As [it is] written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth."

evil is come... They brought all the trouble upon themselves. The law was plainly written down, that they might know God's will. They disregarded God's law, and did what was pleasing in their own sight.

yet made we... Threefold guarantee of blessing from God :

1. Prayer and confession of sin (Dan. 9:3, 9:4-6, 9:17, 9:20)

2. Turning from iniquity (Dan. 9:13; Isa. 55:7)

3. Understanding and obeying truth (Dan. 9:4-10, 9:13; Jhn. 8:32-36; Rom. 1:16)

Daniel is speaking of Israel as a whole, and not individually of himself. He knew that if they had repented in sackcloth and ashes and returned to God, He would have forgiven them.

Because of her rebellion and disobedience Israel was experiencing the curses and… judgments written by Moses (cf. Dan. 9:13) in Deut. 28:15-68.
