The Temple's Chambers
When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy; and shall put on other garments, and shall approach to those things which are for the people. Eze 42:14
but there they... These little chambers, we have read about that were near the place they ministered, were not to be treated like a home. They went there to put on their garments of ministry, and to prepare for their work in the temple.
and shall put... They left their holy garments here, when they went back away from the temple. The chambers in the outer court were more like living quarters.
In
those rooms… the priests who approach the Lord will eat the most
holy offerings (cf. Eze. 46:20) and store their garments (Eze.
44:19).
