The Temple's Chambers
Now the upper chambers were shorter: for the galleries were higher than these, than the lower, and than the middlemost of the building. Eze 42:5
upper chambers were... The third stories or top chambers were shorter than the first and second story rooms (Eze. 42:5-8). They were holy rooms for the priests (Eze. 42:13-14).
The second floor was set in a little from the first, and the third floor was set in a little from the second, to make them stronger.
The other row of rooms next to the sanctuary was twice as long, 175 feet (100 cubits, Eze. 42:8). These rooms were three stories high, with the rooms on the third level being narrower than those on the first and second floors (Eze. 42:3-6).
