The Handwriting on the Wall
Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof. Dan. 5:8
they could not... As usual the wise men failed the king while Daniel became of service (Dan. 5:8-9; 2:2-19; 4:7-9).
nor make known... The wise men were unable to interpret the writing on the wall. This fact produced even greater fear in the king. Their inability to interpret the message made it even more ominous.
