Daniel Chapter 7 Vs. 13

The Son of Man Is Given Dominion

I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. Dan. 7:13

like the Son... This "one" is the Son of Man, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is not the Ancient of days of Dan. 7:9-10, but another one, separate and distinct from Him came with the clouds of heaven (Dan. 7:13). This is definitely the second coming of Christ pictured here (Isa. 63:1-6; Zec. 14:1-5; Mat. 24:29-31; 25:31-46; 26:64; 2Th. 1:7-10; 2:8; Jude 1:14; Rev. 1:7; 11:15; 19:11-21).

came to the... If He comes to the Ancient of days, then He is not the Ancient of days. If they bring Him (the Son of man) near before Him (the Ancient of days), then it is confirmed twice in one scripture that these are two separate Persons, each having His own personal body, soul, and spirit.

This Son of man is the One we call Jesus “the Messiah”. This is the same that we read about as the Stone which destroyed the image. The “clouds of heaven” are seen again (in Revelation 1:7). Here He is distinct from the Ancient of Days, or Eternal One, the Father, who will coronate Him for the kingdom (2:44). The picture of old age is not that of being feeble, rather it highlights eternality and divine wisdom to judge.

Matthew 24:30 “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

The Son of Man

In the third major portion of this vision Daniel saw the Son of Man approaching the Ancient of Days. Jesus Christ, taking the title “Son of Man” from this prophecy, frequently used it to refer to Himself (as recorded in the Gospels; cf. see Mar. 8:31; and see John 1:51).
