Romans Chapter 13 Vs. 6

Submission to the Authorities

For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Rom 13:6

for this cause... Because civil government and law enforcement officers who execute the laws and defend the community are of God and must be supported, pay your share of taxes (Rom. 13:6-7).

are God's ministers... Greek: leitourgos, public servant (Rom. 13:6; 15:16; Phlp. 2:25; Heb. 1:7; 8:2). They are God’s servants to carry on civil government for Him. Even if they are ungodly people and yet faithfully carry out civil responsibility they are to be respected, supported and obeyed on duty.

A Christian’s responsibility to civil authorities involves more than obedience (Rom. 13:1, 13:5). It also includes support by paying taxes (cf. Mat. 22:21). This is because the leaders, as God’s servants (cf. Rom. 13:4), are supposed to give their full time to governing and need support through taxes from citizens, Christians included.
