Nebuchadnezzar's
Dream
And
the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was
troubled to know the dream. Dan. 2:3
dreamed
a dream...
Dan. 2:1-49 is a vision of the great metallic image. In it we have
the prophetic future of the world from Daniel’s day into the
eternal future when God will reign forever. It concerns the latter
days in particular (Dan. 2:28, 2:44-45). There are four parts to Dan.
2:1-49:
1.
The details leading up to dream (Dan. 2:1-18)
2.
The dream revealed (Dan. 2:19-35)
3.
The dream interpreted (Dan. 2:36-45)
4.
The effects of the dream (Dan. 2:46-49)
and
my spirit...
All the king could tell the wise men of his dream was that he had had
one and that it greatly disturbed his spirit (Dan. 2:1-3). Except for
Daniel and his companions, his wise men had made claims of power to
reveal secrets and future events. Now, when the king needed them they
could not live up to the claims of their supernatural powers. All
branches of fortune telling and insight into the future by demons or
by stars are limited. When God is involved in a case, as here, such
other powers are absolutely helpless to operate even though under
normal circumstances there may be a limited operation of those
powers.
