Daniel Chapter 4 Vs. 16

Nebuchadnezzar's Second Dream

Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him. Dan. 4:16

Let his heart... The third part of the vision (Dan. 4:15-16) must have been even more terrifying — if Nebuchadnezzar recognized himself as represented by the tree — for sanity was to leave him and he would become demented, living among the animals. He would have no more mental ability than an animal. This condition would continue for an extended period of time (till seven times pass by; cf. Dan. 4:23, 4:25, 4:32). The “seven times” were probably seven years because (a) seven days or months would have been inadequate for his hair to have grown to the length of feathers (Dan. 4:33), and (b) “times” in Dan. 7:25 means years.
